Tennis Grand Slams – Wimbledon 2011 Winners



Wimbledon 2011 – the Oldest Grandslam

When Isner and Mahut in Wimbledon 2011 once again faced each other it appeared to be a sequel of theLongest match in the history of Wimbledon. But, the most eagerly awaited meeting this time climaxed just in 123 minutes. Isner one more time emerged victorious over Mahut in straight sets 7-6, 6-2, 7-6. Last year at the same venue they both have fought for 11 hours, 5 minutes.
Serbia’s Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the third Grand Slam and first Wimbledon championship title of his career by beating the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Djokovic continued his winning streak against Rafael Nadal, The Serbian has now totally dominated the Spaniard and this was Djokovic’s fifth consecutive win in finals over Nadal since march of 2011. Rafael Nadal was beaten for the first time in a Grand Slam final by a player other than Roger Federer.
Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic won her first Grand Slam title and first Venus Rosewater Dish. The Ladies’ Singles Wimbledon championship trophy, as she defeated Maria Sharapova of Russia by 6-3, 6-4 in the Women’s Singles Final.
In the Men’s Doubles, Bob Bryan (USA) and Mike Bryan (USA) defeated Robert Lindstedt (Sweden) and Horia Tecau (Romania) 6-3, 6-4, 7-6. In the Women’s Doubles Kveta Peschke (Czech Republic) andKatarina Srebotnik (Slovenia) defeated Sabine Lisicki (Germany) and Samantha Stosur (Australia) by 6-3, 6-1.
In the Mixed Doubles Jurgen Melzer (Austria) and Iveta Benesova (Czech Republic) defeated Mahesh Bhupathi (India) and Elena Vesnina (Russia) by 6-3, 6-2.
